While on break during a cooking class at Sur La table, I fell in love with a woood blowl I found on one of the shelves. I had been looking for a bowl to contain small items near the kitchen sink in my aprtment and thought this bowl was exactly what I was looking for. The problem was that it was too big. The shelves behing the sink area are narrow. A few days later, I found a similar bowl in a furniture store. The bowl had a Cost Plus World Market tag on it, so I looked online. I found the bowl, but again, it was too big. Looking further online, I began to realize that I would not find a bowl to fit the kitchen shelf. I then, decided to model and print one.

Having printed with wood filament in the past, I knew it would not be simple to make it look like real wood. Wood grain would need to be carved into the model. The bowl I wanted was smooth and I could not find wood filament that was close to the color I wanted. I decided to print with Inland Wood PLA filament (not affliate link), which does not contain wood, but is easy to paint to resemble real wood. I sanded the printed bowl before painting and sealing.
